Why would I want a critique or review?
- You might be a designer interested in
learning more about solid design, and what you might do to improve
your site.
- You
might be a business owner interested in making your site better
to effect your bottom line, get more orders, inquiries, etc.
- You
might have a site that you want to improve, but aren't sure how
to go about it, and want some advice from folks who do this all
day every day.
- You may have had some trouble or complaints
regarding your site, it's usability or design, etc. and you want
a serious professional critique and recommendation for
what needs improving.
- You
may be working with a web developer and not agree with something
they are telling you, or have questions about the site they are
building and you might need an impartial 3rd party opinion.
What
does it cost?
All sites that we critique and really like will be posted at CoolHomepages.com,
which means your site will get a boatload of traffic!
The
critique/review fees are:
- $39.95
for a mini critique (a few paragraphs or so with recommendations
on what could be altered to make your site better)
- $99.95
for a regular critique and review, complete with recommendations
and tips for how to learn more and improve your site.
- $599
and up for a full-sized review and recommendations regarding your
e-business site design, usability, traffic building, and strategy.
This is several pages worth of in-depth analysis of your site,
it's pros, cons and recommendations on how to tune up it's design,
navigation and structure for optimum response from your users.
We also offer site testing services that you should consider using
before you launch your site to the world at large.
Why
is there a cost?
We have a lot of expenses to cover in bringing CoolHomepages.com
to you for the last few years. If we were well-funded and full of
money, we'd critique your site for free -- but alas, we can't afford
to, and we are trying to provide a worthwhile service for a reasonable
price.
What's
the process?
After payment, I'll ask you a couple of questions in order to find
out who you think your audience is and what your site's objective
is. After you respond, I'll review your site and send you my comments
and recommendations.
Can
I write you back and argue with you, or engage you in a discussion
about my site, after you critique it?
It depends on the level of critique you purchased. Chances are slim
that I'll have a lot of time to debate your sites merits if you
bought the mini-critique. But if you bought the E-Business Critique,
then we'll most certainly be discussing things to whatever degree
is needed. You get the idea.
How
do I pay?
By credit card - I'll send you a link if you're signing up for a
critique.
Who
does the critiques, and what makes you qualified to critique my
site?
All critiques are done personally by me, Tim Donahue, founder of
CoolHomepages.com. I've looked at and reviewed thousands of sites
during the few years that CHP has been alive. My career outside
of CHP as a web designer, small business owner, Art Director, Creative
Director and Vice President of Creative Production has been enormously
enlightening - especially in the world of start-ups and getting
businesses online. The key to doing business online is to provide
something meaningful to your users. What you have needs to be easy
to locate and understandable. The design needs to support your objectives.
It doesn't need to be really slick, or full of Flash animation -
it just needs to help the user achieve their objectives while properly
promoting your company.
In
the end, web design and web business is not a science, and my recommendations
are not intended as the be-all-end-all 'only truth'. But I'm available
to share my hard-won insights with you if you're interested in improving
your web presence, learning a few things about improving your design,
or finding out what kind of shape your site is already in.
Can
I get a free critique?
You
can ask other users to critique your site for free, at the CoolHomepages
